PIPER CITY -- Dean A. Overacker, 63, Sulphur, La., formerly of Piper City, died Sunday (Jan. 2, 1994) at St. Patrick Hospital, Lake Charles, La., after a long illness.
His funeral was Wednesday at Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, DeQuincy, La.
Mr. Overacker was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Piper City, a son of Lester E. and Marie Albee Overacker. He married Christine Force. She survives in Sulphur.
Other survivors include his mother, Piper City; two sons, Stephen Overacker, Sulphur, La., and Lester Overacker, state of Georgia; one sister, Shirley Freeman, Kankakee; four stepsons, Veatchel Courmier, DeQuincy, La.; Artey Courmier, Edgerly, La.; Camus Courmier, Sulphur, La.; and Brillen Courmier, Carlyss, La.; two grandsons; and 10 step-grandchildren. His father preceded him in death. Mr. Overacker was a salesman.

(Editor's note: Dean Overacker graduated from the Piper City high school 28 May 48. He served in the U.S. Army from August 1948 until his discharge 25 May 55 as a Sgt. (E-5) at Wolters AFB, Tex. From 1948 until September 1951 he served at Sta Brize Norton, Oxon, England. He owned and operated an auto supply business in Louisiana that specialized in used parts.)
