She was the daughter of John and Mary Baughman. She married David Sell on October 23, 1833. He operated a grist mill on the Bart's Church road from 1840 until his death in 1861. They had ten children: William, John, Jacob, Anna Maria, David, Catherine, Edmund, Louisa, Henry, Noah, Matilda and Lydia Sell. Five survived to maturity. David was drafted in 1862. He deserted after one week and was never heard from again. In 1863 she moved to Littlestown. Edmund was a substitute for another man in 1864 and was killed four months later near Winchester, VA. Two weeks later Lydia went to Virginia, had his body dug up, and accompanied it to Christ Church for the funeral. She married Henry Reiser, a local merchant from Prussia, on March 27, 1864. He died in 1879. Lydia's last surviving child, Noah, died three months after his mother's death.
