Married John Charles Hulse, 6 Nov 1916, Moulton, Idaho
Obituary - LOGAN, Utah Alice Charlotte Millard Hulse, 102, died May 3, 2001, in the Logan Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 10, 1898, in Uintah, Utah. She was the daughter of Henry Elisha Millard and Elizabeth Ann Saunders. She was the fourth child of 13 children. She married John Charles Hulse, Nov. 10, 1916, in Moulton, Idaho. Their marriage was later sealed in the Logan Temple on March 25, 1954. She was a devoted companion for 41 years before Charles passed away on July 17, 1957.
She spent her early years in Uintah, Utah, and Moulton, Idaho, helping to care for her brothers and sisters. She would go to peoples homes and care for the mothers after their children were born. She would cook and clean and care for the other members of the family. She spent many hours cooking for the thrashers and workers in the fields. She was an excellent cook and seamstress, making many clothes for people in Smithfield by making her own patterns. She had many friends and spent many hours quilting, which she did beautifully. You always left her home with a flower, food, or some token of her love.
Alice was an avid reader and embraced all the new and exciting miracles she was blessed to encounter in her century of living. She had the honor of belonging to the Centurion Club of Utah for three years.
She taught Primary and 4-H and was a Relief Society visiting teacher gleaning many hours of pleasure from her love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Alice always had a garden and would share any abundance of vegetables or fruit with friends and neighbors. She raised her little garden until the last five years of her life. Her flowers were always blooming in her windows and outside her home. If you liked, she would give you a slip to start or she would start one for you.
Alice and Charles were the parents of four daughters and one son, Fern Leonhardt (Elwood, deceased), Providence, Macel (deceased) Don Parker, Wellsville, Sadie and James Parker, Wellsville, Glen (Renee, deceased) Hulse, Hyrum, Mada and Clinton Liechty, Logan. She had 18 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren and 80 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter and a great-grandson. She has one sister still living, Marie Judd, Burley, Idaho, and one sister-in-law, Anna Millard, Moses Lake, Wash. This great lady has been an inspiration to a very large posterity and will continue to be a legend in her time.
Funeral services will be held at noon Monday at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 North, Logan, with Bishop Thomas Blanchard conducting. There will be a viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank all those who have cared for our dear mother and grandmother at Logan Rehabilitation Center.
