He grew up and farmed around Charlotte and the surrounding areas prior to moving to Kansas City, MO in 1960. He made his livelihood as a machinist/welder, then co-owned and operated RLS Machine Shop in Kansas City.
He leaves behind his mother, Nettie Cossey of Batesville, AR; two sons, Larry Cossey and his wife Joyce, and Kenneth Cossey and his wife Lori, all of Kansas City; two daughters, Norma Parrott and her husband Fred of Houston, TX and Lenora Reid and her husband Bob of Warsaw, MO; eight siblings: Ruby Gilmore of Batesville; Alfred Cossey and his wife, Wanda of Adonna, AR; Alice Dean of Jonesboro, AR; Junior Cossey of Tuckerman, AR; Bonnie Stevens and her husband, Lehman of Pleasant Plains, AR; Lois Hanser and her husband, Paul of Tipton, IA; Doris Parker and her husband, Richard of Lawson, MO; James Cossey and his wife, Sue of Tuckerman; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved. He will be missed by many friends and people very special to him.
His father and a brother, Harvey Cossey, preceded Ray in death.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Roller-Crouch Chapel with Jason Henley officiating.
Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in the Gainesboro Community under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time of Thursday at the funeral home.
