DEATH OF MRS. S. M. BLOCKER
Mrs. S. M. Blocker, who resided with her son, Mr. W. W. Blocker in Savannah, died Thursday morning. Her remains were interred at Bethany church near Girard Friday. She was the mother of Mr. P. B. Blocker and an aunt of Miss Lula Cox, Mrs. B.F. Malabar and Mr. Ed. Fulcher.
Mrs. Sarah M. Blocker has a CSA widow's pension application on line under Chatham County. She gives proof of marriage to Barkley M Blocker in July 1869 in Burke County. She says he enlisted in March 1862 with Company D o the 48th Ga. At the surrender, he was home sick on approved furlough. He died in Girard, Ga in Burke County in 1883.

Sarah was named in her father Jordan's will on 21 Jan 1861 as, "my daughter Sarah Mobley". Sarah was unmarried at this time (she was named Sarah Mobley Heath, after her mother Sarah Mobley). Her older sister Amanda E. was married to Bartley M. Blocker, both also named in Jordan's will. After Amanda died, Sarah Mobley married her brother in law Bartley Blocker on 16 Jul 1868 in Burke County GA. Jordan's son Richard Alexander Heath was appointed Guardian to Sarah & her other unmarried sisters until the time of their marriage per Jordan's instructions. However, Richard A. was killed in the Civil War.
