Jane, born the oldest child of James and Elizabeth Drake. The prominent Matilda Furnace in Wayne Township in Mifflin County was named after her. Jane married Capt. Caldwell. Mother of four; Sen. Alexander Caldwell, Franklin Caldwell, Elizabeth Dunmire, and Mary Matilda Mellon.

Died of Consumption at the age of thirty-two years old.

From "Ancestry and Autobiography" by Mary Mellon McClung: "My grandmother, Jane Mathilda Drake, was born in February 1810. She married James Caldwell, born in January 1810. He was ten days older than his wife." (page v) ... "On the fourth of February 1810, their first child, Jane Mathilda, was born." (page 69)
