On Saturday, June 27, 2009, Virginia Anne Blitch Widincamp peacefully went home to be with her Saviour, Jesus Christ. Virginia was born on August 9, 1927 in Statesboro, Georgia to Thomas Norwood Blitch and Venna Mae Anderson. Virginia attended Reidsville High School in Tattnall County. After graduation she met and married Joseph "Joe" Widincamp, and moved to Shellman Bluff. She continued to live at the same home in Shellman Bluff until around 2000, when she moved to Brunswick to be closer to her family. For close to 15 years Virginia was a waitress at Speed's Kitchen at Shellman. She enjoyed working there for all of those years and became friends with many of the regular customers. Virginia was also a key part of Oglethorpe Christian Academy in Darien, where she drove a school bus and helped run the cafeteria. Virginia also worked at Needwood Middle School in the cafeteria for several years. Virginia had been a member of Shellman Bluff Baptist Church since shortly after the church was built. She taught Sunday School, helped with Vacation Bible School and anything else that may have been needed. In 1986, Virginia lost her husband Joe to cancer. Virginia had 4 children who loved her and thanks God for the opportunity to have known the "Best Mom and Friend Ever." She leaves behind a son, Joseph "Phil" Phillips Widincamp Jr., and his wife Susan; a son David Thomas Widincamp; a daughter Debra Anne Kelley and her husband Aubrey; and another daughther Lisa Virginia Rozier, and her husband Damon. Virginia also has a brother, Tommy Blitch (Becky), that will miss her greatly. Along with her children and brother she leaves behind a beloved sister-in-law and close friend of over 50 years, Mary Jo Widincamp. Virginia has several nieces and nephews that she loved. Virginia loved her family, especially the pride and joy of her life, her 5 grandchildren, Jeffrey Widincamp (Phil), Colby Williams (Debra), Ashley Jones, Joshua Jones and William Rozier (Lisa). Each of the grandchildren will miss Virginia but know how much she loved each of them, and have many wonderful memories of her in their hearts. Virginia's health had taken a gradual decline over the past year, but the past several months it continued to become worse. She had grown tired but always was the most wonderful person I know. Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." She is no longer weary or sick, but at rest with her Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ. It was Virginia's wish for her friends and family to remember all of the good time they shared and not dwell on her not being here beside us. Visitation services to celebrate Virginia's life will be held at Edo Miller Funeral Home in Brunswick, on Monday, June 29, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Services will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 11:00 am at Shellman Bluff Baptist Church with burial following at Shellman Bluff Baptist Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Parkinson's foundation, or a charity of their choice. Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home Savannah Morning News June 29, 2009
