Michael Joseph LaFountain, 44, resident of Hesperia and Apple Valley, passed away May 12, 2002, at Desert Valley Hospital.
Born April 29, 1958, in Arcadia to William J. and Beth A. LaFountain, he lived in California for 44 years, 26 of which were spent in the Victor Valley. Michael had been employed by the Apple Valley Unified School District as an irrigation specialist for the past 15 years. A 1976 graduate from Arcadia High School, he also attended Victor Valley Community College for two years, specializing in landscaping and forestry.
Michael will be survived by children Jeremy, Logan and Rebekah of Apple Valley; mother Beth LaFountain of Hesperia; brother John LaFountain of Bakersfield; sister Lori Luce of Las Vegas, Nev.; and his close friend, Kim LaFountain. Michael was preceded in death by his father William LaFountain in 1987.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Kern Mortuary Chapel, 16120 Main St. in Hesperia. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the mortuary chapel, with Pastor Paul Smith officiating. Graveside services will follow at Desert View Memorial Park, 11500 Amargosa Road in Victorville. Kern Hesperia Mortuary is handling arrangements.
