Mrs. Katie Mae Warren Ales, 91, wife of the late Mr. Alvin Jackson Ales, homemaker, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Tri-Lake Medical Center in Batesville, MS.
Visitation was held Saturday, June 27, 2009, starting from 5:30 p.m to 8:30 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home in Batesville, MS. Funeral services will be held today at 2:00 p.m. at Black Jack Presbyterian Church in Batesville, MS with interment following services at Black Jack Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Batesville, MS. Rev. Gary Crowell, Dr. David Ball and Rev. Doug Sullivan-Gonzalez will be officiating services. Dickins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ales was born August 19, 1917 to the late Thomas Jefferson and the late Minnie Lee Duke Warren.
Mrs. Ales is survived by one son, Thomas Keith Ales of Batesville, MS; one daughter-in-law, Willa Odom Ales; one sister, Sadie Warren Faggert of Heidelberg, MS; three grandchildren, Lacey Herron Lenoir of Guntersville, AL, Sharron Lynne Ales of Hattiesburg, MS and Gavin Thomas Ales of Alexandria, Virginia; four great grandchildren, Meredith and Preston Arnold and Anna Kate and Jack Lenoir.
Mrs. Ales is preceded in death by both parents, Mr. Thomas Warren and Mrs. Minnie Duke Warren; her husband, Mr. Alvin Jackson Ales; two sisters, Lorene Warren Pickens and Sue Warren Hudson; one brother, Jimmy Warren.
Mrs. Ales was a member of Black Jack Presbyterian Church in Batesville, MS, a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, served in a Presbyterian Women's Organization, the synod of the Mid-South and The Presbytery, transported children and disabled adults to church and other functions, and cared for and visited the sick and elderly in hospitals, nursing homes and all their homes.
