Amos Bullock, Sr. was the first of nine brothers born to William Jefferson Bullock and Mary Ann "Polly Ann" Wallace. He first married Lydia Frances "Liddy" Rowland on March 4, 1868 in Pope, Arkansas ( Amos Bullock and Lydia Rowland were married at residence of bride's father by Thos. Mandy, Magistrate D-185 ). They had two daughters, Marion Lavinia Bullock and Sarah Elizabeth Bullock. Both died at the ages of seven and eight respectively.

After Liddy died about 1871, Amos remarried to Mary Elizabeth Ross on November 23, 1871 in Pope, Arkansas ( Amos Bullock married 23 Nov 1871 Mary Elizabeth Ross by William A. Barker, Deacon D-178 ). They had nine boys: Amos, Sr., Andrew Wallace, Robert Cladwell, William Green, John Harrison, Jackson T., James Jefferson, Thomas Daniel, and Allen Wilburn. In addition, two girls were born: Sarah Ann Bullock Bibler and Rachel Catherine.

When the Civil War started, Amos Bullock joined Linton's Company of Gordon's Regiment CSA in 1862. He was wounded at the Battle of Pea Ridge, but he continued fighting until the end of the war. He later became a Justice of the Peace for about six years in addition to farming.
