Funeral services will be held at La Chapelle de Martin & Castille on Sunday, June 28, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. for Elizabeth "Betty" Ball Gordon, 81, who passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2009, at LTAC of Acadiana in Lafayette.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of services in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette. A private interment will be held at a later date. Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen, Rector of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will officiate the services.
Survivors include five children, Walter Scott Gordon, III and his wife, Kendra, "Bebe" Gordon, Linda Ludeau Gordon, Eunice Gay Gordon and Cleta Tracy Gordon, all of Lafayette, LA.; six grandchildren, Bonnie Elizabeth Gordon, Allison Leigh Gordon, Shelby Rae Gordon and Cameron Pearson Gordon, all of Lafayette, Cherie Elena Goff and Charles Gordon Goff, both of Pass Christian, MS; her nieces and nephews, John Lawrence Ludeau III, Jesse Noel Ludeau, Sr., Margaret "Peggy" Elizabeth Vincent, Rosemary "Kelly" Caroline Mouton, Nanette "Nancy" Catherine Ludeau and Mary "Barbara" Hansen, along with Cleta Ellington and her husband, Edward, Connie Hines and her husband, Fred, Cliff "Brother" Shirley, Jr. and his wife, Pam, Dr. Bess Stanton and Steve Shirley and his wife, Helen, all of Jackson, MS.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Scott Gordon, Jr.; her parents, John Lawrence Ludeau, Sr. and Eunice Ball Ludeau; and one brother, John Lawrence Ludeau, Jr.
A native of Ville Platte and resident of Lafayette for most of her life, Mrs. Gordon was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Pallbearers will be Beau Billeaud, Shaun Steckler, Steve Shirley, George Giaimo, John Lawrence Ludeau III and Edward Ellington. Honorary pallbearers will be Butch DeRouen, Cliff Shirley, Jesse Ludeau, Fred Hines, Bo Ball and Dr. Paul Zhender.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Paul Zhender and the nurses and staff of Hospice of Acadiana as well as the staff of Lafayette General Medical Center and LTAC for their kindness, compassion and loving care given to Mrs. Gordon during her time of need.

The family would like to recognize her childhood friends, Miss Geraldine Fontenot, Billye Steckler, Carla Campbell and the late Miss Mona Launey all of whom she loved dearly and were her sisters of choice throughout her life.
