Charles J. Longrie Jr., age 74 of Sidnaw, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2001 at his home.

He was born February 12, 1927 in Sidnaw, son of the late Charles Sr. and Evelyn (DeHut) Longrie. Charles was a life long resident of Sidnaw. He attended school in Sidnaw and Kenton. He was in the United States Army during WWII, from May 1945 until February 1947, stationed in Italy. He married the former Elvie Rolloff on August 27, 1955 in Kenton.

Charles worked for many local jobbers in the woods, and as a night fireman for Wood Development, retiring in 1972. He was a well-known mechanic in the area. He enjoyed hunting, four wheeling, and reading. Charles was a member of the VFW Post 8945 of Covington.

He was survived by his wife Elvie of Sidnaw; son James Longrie of Sidnaw; daughter Lois Longrie of Bruce Crossing; two brothers, Willard Longrie of Covington, and Orville Longrie of Watton; two sisters, Marion Stebbins of Sidnaw, and Patricia (Arnold) Townsend of North Carolina; ten grandchildren, Scott, Jamey, Andrea, Kristi, Lindsey, Cheryl, Stacy, Renee, Brian, and Jessica; three great granddaughters, Kathleen Sue, Kiesha Marie, Elyse Paige; and several nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by a son Bryan Longrie; two daughters, Kathleen and Kimberly Longrie; brother Robert Longrie; two sisters, Helen Jones, and Arlene Shelley; and a grandson James Longrie Jr.
