T. Conway Is Taken After Long Illness

Passes Away At Home Monday Eve
Thomas Conway, 80 years old, who had been a resident of Mercer county during all of his life, passed away at his home in Aledo Monday night, June 24, 1935, following a long illness. He had been confined to his bed during the past six weeks and had been in failing health for about three years.
He was born in Preemption township April 19, 1855, the oldest son of Joseph Conway, one of the early settlers in that community. He was married to Miss Ella Kehoe, of Milan, February 6, 1882 in Rock Island. She passed away in 1922.
Was Well Known
Mr. Conway was well known in Mercer and Rock Island counties and served as assessor and as supervisor from Preemption township for many years.
He retired from the farm eighteen years ago and moved to Aledo where he made his home during the remainder of his life.
He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic church in Aledo from which funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning at 9 o'clock. Rev. J. H. Callahan will officiate at the services and interment will be made in St. Joseph's cemetery in Preemption.
Surviving are a son, Charles J., of Reynolds; a daughter, Miss Mabel, of Aledo, and five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Anthony of Bigelow, Mo., and Sister Mary Vincent, of Iowa City; and two brothers, Patrick and Martin W. of Aledo.
