Barbara Ann Richardson McKenzie, age 58, of Flat Gap, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009, at her residence.


She was born September 23, 1950, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and is the daughter of Lovena Ruth Davis Richardson of Morehead, Kentucky, and the late William L. (Bill) Richardson.


In addition to her mother, Barbara is survived by her husband, James L. McKenzie, whom she married July 5, 1969; one son, James Michael McKenzie and his wife Holly of Clearfield, Kentucky; one daughter, Jessica Ann Ferguson and her husband Kenneth Allen of Flat Gap, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Abbey and Emmy McKenzie and Matthew and Rylan Ferguson, and an expected grandson in August, Mark Brennan Ferguson.


Other survivors include three brothers, J. David Richardson and wife Suzanne of Louisville, Kentucky, Ronald Lynn Richardson of Louisville, Kentucky, Paul Keith Richardson and wife Kathy of Morehead, Kentucky and numerous nieces and nephews.


Barbara was a homemaker, former salesperson for AFLAC Insurance, and former substitute teacher in the Johnson County school system. She loved doing craftwork and refinishing furniture. She was a member of the Kerz Church in Sitka, were she was a Sunday school teacher.


Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Paul Dean Meade officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be James Michael McKenzie, Kenneth Allen Ferguson, Matthew Richardson, Britton Richardson, Derek Johnson, and Anthony Sublett.


Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009, and from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
