Paul W. Howbert
Paul W. Howbert, 94, Topeka, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1992, at a Topeka nursing home.
Mr. Howbert was a farmer before he retired.
He was born Oct. 8, 1898, in Watson, the son of George and Estella Read Howbert. He spent his life in the Berryton and Shawnee Heights communities before he moved into a nursing home in 1985.
Mr. Howbert was a member of Wakarusa Lodge No. 402, AF&AM, in Wakarusa, had served as master of Berryton Grange, was a trustee of Monmouth Township from 1966 to 1980, and was a former director of the high school board in Berryton.
He was married to Bessie Wince O'Dell Dec. 28, 1917, in Kansas City, Kan. She died March 29, 1973. A son, Dale W. Howbert, died July 6, 1964.
Survivors include a son, Wayne W. Howbert, Topeka; a brother, Clayton Howbert, Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lynn Creek Cemetery near Berryton. Memorial contributions may be made to Berryton United Methodist Church, 7010 S.E. Berryton Road, Berryton, 66409, or to the Kansas Heart Association, 5375 W. 7th, 66606.
