J.C. (Don) Lossing of Cottonwood died at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis yesterday morning about 9 o'clock of cardiac failure. He had driven down Sunday morning to consult specialists in regard to a carbuncle on his neck which physicians here had been treating for a few days, though it was not considered very serious, and only on account of being so near the jugular vein they advised his going there for treatment. Surgeons elected to operate and he had been on the operating table only a short time and had just begun to take gas, when he passed away. H.S. Smith of this city and W.B. Greenway of Cottonwood drove down yesterday afternoon and returned last night with the body, which was taken to their home at Cottonwood, where it will remain until the arrival of his parents from Detroit, Mich., who are expected some time today or tomorrow. Mr. Lossing is a son-in-law of Ed Watson of this city and besides his parents he leaves his wife and several children.
Funeral arrangements will be completed on arrival of his parents, who will decide as to the burial place to be selected. Mr. Lossing was an excellent citizen and had scores of friends here and in his home community who will deplore his unexpected passing.
