Matthis Soukup

Matthis Soukup, 92, 609 N. Fifth Ave., Wausau, died in a Wausau hospital at 3:45 p.m. Monday.

Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Helke West Chapel, Wausau. The Rev. James Wiebel of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Wausau, will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call at the funeral chapel after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Soukup was born Feb. 2, 1884, in Wausau, he married Lydia Oelke, who survives. He was a retired employee of Wausau Paper Mills Co.

Survivors besides his wife include a daughter, Mrs. Fern Fuller, 115 ½ Grand Ave., Wausau; two sons, Marcus, Cedarburg, and Roderick, San Ramon, Calif.; three step-sons, Wilbur Oelke, Augusta, Georgia, Raymond Oelke, Springfield, Ohio, and Leonard Oelke, 908 S. 20th Ave., Wausau; thee step-daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Weiland, Holmen, Mrs. Linda Matzke, Schofield, and Mrs Olive Fondow, Oshkosh; 26 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
