SOUTH BEND - Kathryn "Kathy" Ann Savill, 53, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 4:03 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009, in her home. She was born on March 14, 1956, in Elkhart, IN, to Lawrence "Larry" and Lucille "Lucy" (Bollman) Gygi. On July 15, 1978, in Elkhart, IN, she married Craig R. Savill, who survives. Kathy is survived by her husband, Craig R. Savill of South Bend, IN; two daughters, Michelle (Ryan) Laurence of South Bend and Kimberly (Mark) Whitacre of Norfolk, VA; son, Preston (Brittney) Savill of South Bend, IN; four grandchildren, Breanna Laurence, Ryan Laurence Jr., Saydi Laurence and Zachary Whitacre; mother, Lucille "Lucy" Gygi of Elkhart, IN; sister, Susan Yoder of Elkhart, IN; mother-in-law, Imogene Savill of Lakeville, IN; and several nieces and nephews, including a nephew, Brody Yoder. Her father, Lawrence Gygi, and father-in-law, Richard Savill, preceded her in death. Kathy was a graduate of Concord High School and Bethel College. She was a teacher at North Liberty Christian School, a substitute teacher at LaVille Schools, Mishawaka Schools, Elkhart Christian Academy, South Bend Schools, including teaching in the Leap Program and was a teacher's aide at Veritas Academy. She also received a paralegal certificate. Kathy was a member of the Hillside Missionary Church and enjoyed working with the youth of the church. She was the director of the children's quiz team. Kathy enjoyed traveling and had visited 44 of the 50 states as well as China. A celebration of Kathy's life will be held at noon Saturday, June 27, in the Hillside Missionary Church, 21567 Ireland Road, South Bend. Rev. Ken Fetter will officiate. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Fair Cemetery, North Liberty, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 26, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend.
