THE PERU REPUBLICAN OBITUARY:
Nellie Lucile Volpert, 94, of Peru, Ind., died after a brief illness in Richmond, Ind., on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005. She was born in Peru, Ind., to Elva and Harry Wolf.
Nellie graduated from Peru High School. She married Joseph Volpert on July 28, 1938. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1980. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Mary Rehm, and sisters, Helen Mihollin, Catherine Beard and Ruth Wolf. Nellie's sister, Loretta Cain of Peru, survives her. Nellie was a life-long resident of Peru. She and her husband Joe, lovingly raised four children. Nellie had a huge heart, a perceptive mind and a great sense of humor. She was blessed with many friends. She had an abiding faith and was a very active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Peru. Nellie loved her independence and, thanks to her family, friends and church, she lived healthfully and independently in her own home until shortly before her death. She is survived by three daughters and a son, Mary Jo Volpert Clark and spouse Len of Richmond, Ind., Susan Volpert Seu and spouse Mike of Haleiwa, Hawaii, Kathy Volpert Konow and spouse Tom of Jenison, Mich., and Timothy Volpert and spouse Joan of Portland, Ore. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including Richmond residents Alison Clark Zajdel and spouse Kyle and former Richmond residents Andrew Clark and spouse Kara Griffith-Clark of Granger, Ind., Benjamin Clark and spouse Krista Clark of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Chris Konow and spouse Jody Griffith-Konow of Indianapolis. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Peru, Ind. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 181 W. Main St., Peru, IN 46970.
