When tax season rolls around, some seniors get anxious about figuring their taxes. There's all the paperwork to keep track of - earned interest dividends, charitable deductions, medical expenses.
Some may approach the task with trepidation, but not 89-year-old Louis Brind. Brind recently celebrated 28 years of service as an AARP Tax-Aide volunteer in Florida. He received a plaque from AARP Tax- Aide, recognizing him as the volunteer with the longest record of tax-preparation service in the state.
Brind said his interest in tax forms was piqued when an IRS employee helped him with his own tax return. After that, Brind started helping other people fill out their returns. He started working as a volunteer counselor in 1971, after he moved from Michigan to Dunnellon.
