Josiah Dunlap Walton was the seventh child of John Walton, b. 1812 in New York, and his wife Harriet Seymour, b. 1812 in New York. The family lived at various times in New York, Michigan, Tioga Co., Pennsylvania, and Hardin Co., Iowa. Josiah married (1) Harriet Berdine in 1878 in Wright Co., Iowa. They settled in Hardin Co., Iowa and had five children, Ellis, Ernest, Cyrus A., Elva, and Beulah. After the death of his wife, he moved to Salem, Oregon, where he married twice more. He and his third wife live for a time in Santa Cruz, CA, where she died. After the death of his third wife, he moved to San Diego, CA where his three sons had settled. He died in San Diego on Jan. 5, 1926 and was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery.
