Lawrence J. Kugler, 77, a resident of Cashmere for the past 34 years, died Saturday morning, Oct. 31, 1987, at Central Washington Hospital.

He was born July 4, 1910, at Fergus Falls, Minn., and was raised and attended school there. He married Dorothy Zurn in 1928 at Maine, Minn.

They moved to Montana in 1951, to Chelan in 1952 and to Cashmere in 1953.

Mr. Kugler was an auto mechanic for Joplin Chevrolet Garage and Uecker Brothers Motors. He then operated a Standard Oil station until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the National Rifle Association.

He wrote short stories, some of which were printed in the Cashmere Valley Record.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, at home; two sons, Valarius Kugler, Mount Victoria, Md., and August Kugler, Walnut Creek, Calif.; five daughters. Dorothy Spry, Cashmere, Evanell Janousek, Rapid City, S.D., Ernee McArthur, Minneapolis, Minn., Elaine Mikkelscn, Seattle, and Valerie Fox, Port Angeles; a sister, Alice Mertins, Detroit Lakes, Minn.; 29 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Holy Rosary will be held Wednesday evening at 7:30 at the Braun Funeral Chapel and Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church. Father Fred Determan will officiate. Rita DelGrosso will be organist and burial will take place in the Cashmere Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Mikkelsen, Peter Spry, Howard Olson, Dick Olson, Ervin Spry and Larry Fox.

Memorials are suggested to the Lung Association. The Braun Funeral Home has charge of funeral arrangements.
