Funeral services for Mrs. Marie "Eloise" Alford Smith will be at 2 p.m., Monday, November 8, 2004 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers in Pineville with the Rev. Ed Dilworth officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Smith, 81, was born December 17, 1922 to James W. Alford, Sr. and Marie Eloise Olivier Alford. She was a lifelong resident of Tioga. On November 6, 2004, she joined her Heavenly Father, her beloved husband of 59 years, Phil, and her faithful dog, Honey.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Tioga High School Alumni Group and the Parkinson's Support Group. Her hobbies were playing cards and collecting dolls and antiques. She was the "Queen Bee of Collecting."
She is preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, James W. Alford Jr., George E. Alford, and Bobby Alford.
Survivors include one son, Philip (Ginny) Smith of Trout; five daughters, Glo-ria (Danny) White of Pineville, Sissy (Gary) Self of Shreveport, Carol (Jim) Parsons of Elm Grove, Gretchen (Mark) McKee of Ball, and Valerie Murray of Ball; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Philip Smith, Danny White, Jim Parsons, Patrick Alford, Gary Self, Mark McKee, Cody Murray, and Brett White.
Honorary pallbearers will be her other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and Henry Wells, Jr.
Friends may call from 4 until 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
