Dennis W. Collinsworth, age 90, a resident of Bertrand, died Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Bertrand Nursing Center.
He was born July 27, 1918 at Irvington, KY to the late William and Alice Collinsworth. He had lived in Mississippi County a number of years and was a member of the Chapel by the Lake Church near Sikeston.
Dennis loved the Lord. He loved to sing and play the guitar. He loved his garden and flowers and loved to take his wife out to eat and treat her nice. Dennis was a hard worker all his life and he enjoyed working. He talked about Heaven and how beautiful it was going to be.
On May 10, 2003, he married Ruth Brumley who survives of the home in Bertrand.
Also surviving are: one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and John Coryn of Elkhart, IN; one step son, Roger Byford of Bertrand; one step daughter, Myra Minehart of Poplar Bluff; three step grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston with Nick Simmons, pastor of the Chapel by the Lake Church, officiating.
Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Cole Byford, Roger Byford, Danny Minehart, Bob Ritchey, Robert Summers and Curly Gammons.
