They always found ample and sufficient provisions. Mr. Hawthorne was generous to a fault and faithful and true to his friends and it can be truly said of him that he was a kind husband and a loving father, a friend to the friendless, and a father to the fatherless, generous to his neighbors and his last words were addressed to his Creator to have mercy on him. On Tuesday afternoon he was laid to rest at Walker's Grove cemetery. After the funeral services conducted by Rev. G. T. Wetzel, the Masonic Fraternity took charge and with impressive and solemn rites performed the last duty to the departed. About forty Masons were present to assist in the burial of the brother. The county was well represented from San Jose to Bath. Neighbors and friends in large numbers came to pay the last tribute of respect. The following were present from a distance: Mr. and Mrs. Richard Woolridge, Mr. and Mrs. Weaver, Mr. and Mrs. George Hawthorne, Mr. and Mrs. John Hurley of Petersburg, Mr. Wm.
