Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Avondale Baptist Church for Lewis J. Horne Jr., 50, of Allen Road, Macon Rte. 7, who was killed in a traffic accident near Juliette Thursday.
The Rev. Charles Casey will officiate at services for Mr. Horne and burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes before the services begin.
Another person injured in the accident, identified as Mrs. Frances W. Sutton, 38, of 1555 Ingle Drive, was listed in fair condition at Macon Hospital, where she was rushed after being examined at the Monroe County Hospital in Forsyth. It was thought that her back was broken in the accident.
The car Mr. Horne was driving skidded into a ditch 2.6 miles south of Juliette on Georgia Highway 87 in Monroe County and he was thrown from the car, state troopers said.
A native of Dooly County, Mr. Horne had lived in Bibb County for 21 years and was a member of Avondale Baptist Church. He had retired from Civil Service employment at Robins Air Force Base.
Survivors include two sons, Marion Wayne Horne and Lewis J. Horne III, both of Macon; three daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Brewer of Warner Robins, and Miss Evette Horne and Miss Vivian Horne, both of Macon; three brothers, James S. Horne of Perry, Edsel B. Horne of Macon, and Marion Horne of Atlanta; and two sisters, Mrs. Charles C. Grantham of Macon and Mrs. A. R. Burney of Atlanta.
