Kathryn Marie (Thompson) MacRae, 87, of Johnstown, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday (Feb. 17, 2009).
She was born on Sept. 2, 1921, in Rimersburg, Pa. She was a longtime resident of Mount Pleasant, Mich.
Marie was a graduate of Central Michigan University, where she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority. It was there she discovered her passion for early childhood education, which she practiced professionally and at home.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Donald MacRae; sons John (Jill) MacRae of Marietta, Ohio, and Mike (Julia) MacRae of Portland, Ore.; daughters, Marilyn Engle of Johnstown, Ohio, Kelley (Terry) Quinn of Dallas Texas, Ellen MacRae of Bexley, Ohio, Susan (Tom) Kahler of Upper Arlington, Ohio, and Marcia (Tim) Homstad of New Albany, Ohio; sister, Yvonne Atha of Worthington, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Edith Gifford Thompson; sister, Ruth Ann; and brother Richard Thompson.
Family and friends to gather at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown. Ohio, on Saturday (Feb. 21, 2009) from 3 to 5 p.m.
