She was born in Buncombe, N.C., May 3, 1898, the daughter of the late Granville and Laurie Fir May. She was a member of Wesleyan Methodist Church and a retired textile employee.
Survivors are three daughters; Mrs. Willie Matthews, Mrs. Wayne Murphy and Mrs. Charles M. Guy, all of Union; three sons: Earl Thomas, William E., and James Clifford Puckett all of Union; one sister: Mrs. Will Shepperd of Clinton; one brother: John May of Clinton; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church by Rev. Jimmy Skinner. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Eugene Parham, James E. Huffstickler, Arthur Earl Puckett, Harold Mize, Robert Murphy, and Charles Shepperd.
The body will remain at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home and will be placed in the church Wednesday at 2 p.m. to await the hour of service.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wayne Murphy, 105 Partridge Road, and will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 until 9.
