Ethel Buchanan, Campbellsville, daughter of the late Seymour Shaw and Mabel Russell Shaw, was born Jan. 27, 1918 in Taylor County and died at 7:27 p.m. Tuesday, May 26 in Campbellsville.

Buchanan professed faith in Christ and was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a retired deputy circuit court clerk after many years of service.

Buchanan united in marriage to Frank "Tony" Buchanan Nov. 6, 1954, who preceded her in death April 2, 1987.

Buchanan was also preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Shaw Feb. 22, 2008 and J.T. "Jimmy" Shaw June 21, 2007.

Survivors include two daughters and one son, Ellen Goff and husband Donald, Campbellsville, Barbara Lewis and husband James, Louisville, and George R. Buchanan and wife Chris, Lebanon, TN; three grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, Buddy Shaw and Don Shaw and wife Gail, both of Campbellsville, Sara W. Buckler, Lebanon, and Dick Shaw and wife Charlene, Big Bear Lake City, CA; a sister-in-law, Liz Shaw, Campbellsville; and several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2009 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Dr. Ted Beam and Carol Weddle, with burial in Brookside Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Joe Buckler, Rodney Burress, Sam Newcomb, Bobby Shaw, David Shaw, Jeff Shaw and Kim Shaw.

Honorary Pallbearers: Members of the Wesley Circle of United Methodist Women; Kerr Fellowship Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church; and Employees of Taylor Circuit Court Clerk's Office.

Expressions: Donations to the First United Methodist Church building fund, United Methodist Women Missions or Gideon Bibles and may be made at the funeral home.
