The following was found on page 3 of the 14 April 1869 edition of the Indiana Herald:
Mr. John Carll, an old citizen of this county, and formerly Auditor, died at his residence in this place, on Friday night last. He was sick only a few days. His funeral was attended by the Masonic Fraternity.
