He was the husband of Sara Klemmer.
Born June 2, 1938, in Reading, Norm was a son of the late Roy and Betty (Gilbert) Klemmer.
He worked for Carpenter Technologies Corp. for 20 years at the Reading and Charlotte plants. Norm moved to Long Island, N.Y., to run a small private firm before moving back to Charlotte to establish his own company that exported exotic metal.
Klemmer later went to work at the former Hechingers and Lowe’s where he managed the lighting and hardware departments.
Norm’s real passion was trains, both real and models.
A graduate of Mount Penn High School, Norm went on to attend Temple University.
He is also survived by a son, Kraig Biehl and his wife, Janet; and two daughters, Janelle Biehl Bechtel and her husband, Kenny, and Elizabeth “Scottie” Klemmer Kelly and her husband, Bryan.
Other survivors include his former wife, Virginia “Ginny” Scott.
There are also seven grandchildren: Lauren Biehl, Kameron Biehl, Erin Stroup, Heather Stoeber, and Sean, Anna and Kyra Kelly.
A private gathering of family and friends will take place Friday in his residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Presbyterian Hospice & Palliative Care, PO Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233-3549. Carolina Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Charlotte, is entrusted with the arrangements.
