Funeral services for Luther Bowman, 69, were conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 from Hartman Funeral Home. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Lewis Rhodes of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church officiating.
Mr. Bowman died in Beaumont, Texas, Thursday morning. Services were held at the First Baptist Church in Beaumont and his body was brought to Brookhaven, arriving here Friday night.
Mr. Bowman lived his early years in Brookhaven, but had resided in Beaumont for the past 25 years. He was the owner of the Bowman Furniture Store in that city and was a member of the First Baptist Church there. In addition he was a Mason, a Lion and a member of the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce.
Surviving are his wife and five brothers. W.P. Bowman of Vidor, Texas, Hester Bowman of Hazlehurst, Ford Bowman of New Orleans, W.I. Bowman of Bogue Chitto and Benny Bowman of Oregon.
Pallbearers were Mr. Bowman's nephews.
