Catherine Ann Muck was the first dau. and second child of Daniel Muck (1812-1884) and Nancy B. Wertz (1814-1856). Although Catherine's gravestone has her date of birth as May 24, 1838, family records have May 28, 1838, which I have chosen to use here.

Catherine md. 1) Gabriel Leslie in Sullivan Co., MO, April 26, 1857. He died during service in the Civil War prior to Jan. 26, 1863, when Catherine applied for a widow's pension. They had one dau., Louisa Jane, b. July 15, 1859.

She md. 2) Riley Marion Smiley Nov. 27, 1864, in Sullivan Co., MO. Riley had served in the same Co. A, 23rd MO Infantry, as did Gabriel Leslie. Catherine and Riley had nine children- 4 boys and 5 girls.

In the 1880s, Riley and Catherine moved to the Abilene, KS, area of Dickinson Co. where they later died.
