Edward Lynn Bell, 72, of Hopewell died Thursday, February 12, 2004 in the John Randolph Medical Center. He was born in Petersburg and was the son of the late Archie G. and Mary Warren Bell. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was the retired Fire Chief for the Hopewell Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Ann Bell, two daughters, Patricia Lynn Tyus (Michael) and Mary Helen Fitzsimons (Raymond) all of Prince George, three grandchildren, Ronnie O. Ellis, Jr. (Bridget) of Hopewell, Ryan E. Fitzsimons and Christopher T. Fitzsimons both of Prince George, three great-grandchildren, Courtney Ellis, Maranda Ellis and Cara Tyus, two brothers, Fletcher Bell and Donald, Bell, Sr. both of Hopewell, nephew, Donnie Bell, Jr. (Angie) of Hopewell, great-nephew, Hayden Warren Bell, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dina Plummer (Richard, Sr.) of Hopewell and Robert Plummer (Carol) of Watertown, NY.
The family will receive friend at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Monday from 7 to 8:30 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Willie Cromer, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park.
