George W. Sutherlin was one of the early settlers of Putnam County, Indiana per Weiks 1910 History of Putnam County, page 356. The family moved to Orange, Indiana in 1815 and to Putnam County in 1821.

George made land entries in Jackson, Monroe, and Greencastle townships in 1826. Other entries in Jackson township during the 1830's and two in Floyd township in 1836. These were probably farms for his children.

George married Elizabeth Miller from North Carolina in North Carolina about 1806.

George and Elizabeth have 10 children that I know of

3. Roland Sutherlin 1814-1876
4. Henry Sutherlin 1816-1879
5. Evaline SUTHERLIN Gordon 1819-

They migrated through the Cumberland Gap to Kentucky and on to Orange,Indiana in 1815,and settleing in Putnam County Indiana in 1821.

The original spelling is Southerland.

They have a son
Roland Sutherlin, Born in Kentucky 22 Feb 1814 and died 28 Apr 1876 in Jackson,Putnam,Indiana. He is buried in New Maysville Cemetery. His tombstone says ''Rowling Southerlan '' Maybe misspelled at that time or it is now spelled more like it sounds. Roland is my 4th great grandpa.
