Thomas "Tom" Joseph BROWN [named after both his grandfathers] was a farmer initially in Hamilton Twsp, Decatur Co, Iowa just north of the border town of Pleasanton. He married Esther Leona SEYMOUR 22d 12m 1919 in Leon, Decatur Co, Iowa. He also worked on the railroad and about 1925 he moved his family along with his parents to near La Crosse in La Crosse Co, Wisconsin where he got a job on the railroad during the difficult economic times for rural America in the 1920s. As Thomas' father grew ill Thomas moved the family back to the Missouri-Iowa border about 1927 and his father died the following year. In later years Tom raised sheep and ran the gas station in Pleasanton which was literally a few feet north of the Missouri border. Tom & Esther are the parents of three children.
