He was born August 30, 1874 at Hastings, Ohio to Napoleon and Elizabeth Plotner. His wife died in 1940.
Surviving are two sons, Orville of Monroe, Michigan, and Clarence of Toledo; one daughter, Mrs. Pansy Hewitt of Chillicothe, and two brothers, Willis of Cleveland and Harley of Cincinnati.
