She was born Dec. 13, 1926, in Topeka, to John R, and Pearl L. Chestnut Eckert.
She was a seventh- and eighth-grade math teacher in Goodland until July 26, 1953, when she married John Zimbelman in Goodland. They moved to Emporia in 1954 and to Sharon Springs in 1957. She was a substitute teacher until becoming the high school secretary in Sharon Springs in 1968, serving in that capacity until the family moved to Leoti in 1970.
Survivors include her husband, of Scott City; a son, Michael Zimbelman of Scott City; a daughter, Susan Zimbelman of San Jose, Calif.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Burial was at a later date.
