Mrs. Minnie Quick, 67, died at her home in Sherando yesterday (Tuesday, Oct. 4, 1945) at 5:30 p.m. after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Jeff and Allie Dameron Truslow.
She is survived by her husband, Sidney Quick; five daughters, Mrs. Cynthia Webb, Hot Springs; Mrs. Hallie Henderson, Lyndhurst; Mrs. John Small, Afton; Mrs. Lillian Pugh, Lyndhurst; and Miss Effie Quick, Lyndhurst. Also surviving are six sons, Jeff, Sidney, Sherman, Ernest, Frank and Charles Quick, all of Lyndhurst; two sisters, Maggie Campbell, Nash; and Robbie Campbell, Montebello; five brothers, Tinsley Truslow, Afton; Halsey Truslow, Eagle Rock; and Cliff, Bernard, and Rondeau, all of Wintergreen.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 6 (tomorrow) from Mountain View Mennonite Church, Sherando, with the Rev. Joseph Driver conducting the service. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Remains will be at her home until the time of funeral.
Waynesboro News Virginian-date of paper: October 5, 1945
Note: Minnie's parent were James Napoleon Truslow and Alice Frances Dameron Truslow.
The date of birth on her tombstone appears to be in error. If it was correct then she would have been about 13 years of age when she had her first child. Her marriage and death certificate (d/c) indicates that she was born October 4, 1878 which appears to be correct. The informant on her d/c was her son. Her memorial reflects the date of birth on her d/c.
