Esther Swanson, age 87, from McIntosh, MN passed away at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN.
Esther Henrietta Augusta Bartz was born December 4, 1915 to parents William and Emma (Polley) Bartz in King Township, rural McIntosh, MN where she grew up, and attended rural school. Esther was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in McIntosh, MN.
She was united in marriage to Julian Swanson on November 19, 1938 in McIntosh, MN. They resided on the Swanson home farm in Brandsvold Township, near McIntosh, MN for most of their lives, with the exception of 2 1/2 years, when they lived in Minneapolis, MN. Esther was a homemaker, and Julian's helpmate on the farm. She worked at the B & B Cafe, McIntosh, McIntosh Manor and at the Old Pioneer Nursing Home in Erskine. In her later years, she became certified as a nursing assistant.
Esther was a very active member at Asphult Lutheran Church until it closed and then later at Salem Lutheran Church in mcIntosh, MN. She loved gardening, sewing, and crafts. Her passion was quilting, and she belonged to 3 quilting groups. Esther was a member of Homemakers, worked with Senior Meals, and spent many years entertaining as a member of the Kitchen Band in McIntosh, MN.
Esther passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2003, which would have been her 65th wedding anniversary.
Survivors includer her daughter: Sharon George of Minneapolis, MN; 4 grandchildren; Debra (Tim) Weiss of Lake Worth, Florida, Wendy (Charlie) Gard of West Palm Beach, Florida, Jesse and Brett Swanson of Oklee, MN; 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild all of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Julian in 1979; brother, Edwin, sisters; Dorothy Fjerstad, and Wilma Svein; and 3 infant siblings.
