Emmett F. Kustra, 85, of Tarentum, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 23, 2009, at his home. He was born March 8, 1924, in Creighton, son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Kantarik) Kustra. He was a resident of Tarentum since 1952 and was a general laborer at ALCOA, New Kensington, for 31 years. He was a World War II Marine veteran and a member of Holy Martyrs Church and VFW 5758, both in Tarentum. He graduated from East Deer High School, enjoyed crossword puzzles, cards, and movies on DVD and was a Steelers fan. Survivors include his daughter, Aline M. (Gary Sr.) Schrag, of Tarentum, with whom he made his home; grandsons, Ronald (Daria) Schrag, of Oakdale, and Gary (Rene) Schrag Jr., of Brackenridge; granddaughters, Tracey (Geno) Stello, of West Deer Township, and Lindsay (Russell) Mialki, of Tarentum; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Stello and Katrina Stello, both of West Deer Township, Joslyn Schrag, Alexa Schrag and Cadence Schrag, all of Brackenridge, Melissa Mialki, of Tarentum, and Shawn Brown, of Oakdale; and brothers, George (Mary Lou) Kustra, of Logans Ferry, and Walter (Marie) Kustra, of West Deer Township. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Olga R. (DiSanti) Kustra, March 31, 2003; three brothers, Joseph, Bernard and Andrew Kustra; and sister, Margaret Richards. Relatives and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME, Tarentum. Blessing service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum, by his pastor, the Rev. Aaron J. Kriss. Burial will be in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township, with full military honors accorded by Post 5758 VFW, Tarentum. Marine Corps League will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
