---Edith Manning, 86, of LaPlata, died Friday, March 10, 1995, at the Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center.
---She was born April 1, 1908, near Novelty, the daughter of Edwin and Amanda Dutton Stockham. On June 26, 1929, she married Foster Vose, who preceded her in death in 1947. She married James Manning Dec. 19, 1954, who also preceded her in death in 1956.
---She was also preceded in death by one son, Larry Vose, and two brothers, Carl and Denver Stockham.
---She is survived by one granddaughter and one brother Otto Stockham of Shelbyville, Mo., two great-granddaughters, three nephews and one niece.
---She received her B.S. and M.A. in education from Northeast Missouri State University. She taught school for 33 years in the area and in St. Louis. She retired in 1969 and was a member of the La Plata Baptist Church.
---Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday (Mar. 13, 1995) at the Pollock Funeral Chapel in LaPlata. Burial was in the LaPlata Cemetery.

---Services were held at 2 p.m. today in the Pollock Funeral Chapel in La Plata, with Rev. Bob Welsh. Burial will be in the LaPlata Cemetery.
---She was born April 1, 1908, near Novelty, the daughter of Edwin and Amanda Dutton Stockham. On June 26, 1929, she married Foster Vose. He preceded her in death in 1947. She married James Manning on Dec. 29, 1954. He preceded her in 1956.
---Survivors include one granddaughter, Mrs. Tom (Elizabeth) Kamrath of Austin, Texas; a brother, Otto Stockham of Shelbyville; two great-granddaughters; three nephews; and one niece.
---She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Duane Vose in 1959; and two brothers, Carl and Denver Stockham.
---Mrs. Manning was a 1925 graduate of Novelty High School. She received a BS and MA in education at NMSU. She taught school 33 years in Cherry Box, Elmer and LaPlata, in this area. She retired at Normandy High School in St. Louis in 1969, when she returned to LaPlata. She was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association, a 50 year member of LaPlata O.E.S., a senior Atalpal GFWC member, a La Plata American Legion Auxiliary member, and a member of the First Baptist church of La Plata.
