Funeral Services Monday For Retired Telephone Employee

---John Caldwell Woodruff, 72, of LaPlata died late Friday evening in a Kirksville hospital a few hours after he was admitted.
---The son of James Wilson and Mary Temperance Woodruff, he was born Nov. 26, 1889, in Oakland, Ia. He was married on Oct. 21, 1944, to Hazel Vose in Macon county.
---Surviving besides his wife are a brother and two sisters, Dan Woodruff and Mrs. Eloise Larson, Council Bluff, Ia., and Mrs. Hattie Davis, Walnut, Ia.
---His parents and a brother preceded him in death. A retired employee of the Bell Telephone system for which he worked thirty years, Woodruff came to LaPlata six years ago from Canon City, Colo. He was a member of the Christian church in Oakland, Ia., and a veteran of World War I.
---Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the LaPlata Baptist church conducted by the Rev. Clyde McCollum and burial will be in the LaPlata cemetery. The body will remain at the Christie Funeral Home until noon Monday. Then it will be taken to the Baptist church to lie in state until the funeral hour when the casket will be closed and not reopened. Bearers will be Scott Gault, Ira Turner, Richard Carder, Fred Smith, Otto Stockham and Carl Stockham.
