A head-on automobile collision Sunday morning about 1 o'clock in front of the Diamond Tavern, one mile south of Sikeston on Highway 61, proved fatal to William Wilson Cunningham, 56 year old Pemiscot County farmer. Cunningham died in the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau at 8 o'clock Sunday morning.
Mrs. Mary K. Carter, 82, mother of Mr. Cunningham, who has been living with another son, Harry Cunningham, McCarty community farmer, suffered a crushed leg and knee and a fractured hip, and was removed, along with her son, to the Cape Girardeau hospital.
Mr. Cunningham and his mother were riding in a car driven by Ralph Tolbert, of Pontiac, Mich., in which city they had been visiting with relatives. ....

The body of Mr. Cunningham was brought to this city Monday and prepared for burial by the LaForge Undertaking Co. Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Misson Church with Rev. Roy F. Bradley conducting the services.
Mr. Cunningham, who had lived in Pemiscot County for many years, farming in recent years in the McCarty community. He is survived by three sons, Joe and Paul of the county, and Jack of Burnsville, Miss.; Two daughters, Mrs. Ester Hanley of Hayti, and Mrs. Ruth Wheeler of Pontiac, Mich. In addition to his mother and children, he is also survived by three brothers, Harry, who farms in the McCarty community south of this city, Geo. of Blytheville, and Hugh of Madison, Ind.; and five sisters, Mrs. Eunice Martin of Hayti, Mrs. Clara Adams of Flint, Mich., Mrs. Ethel Lossing of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Bertha Reed of Pontiac, Mich., and Mrs. Doris Morgan of Dallas, Texas.
