Rosemary Lou Berven Johnson passed away in her home on April 20, 2007 in Auburn, Calif.. She died of emphysema.
She was born on April 7, 1927 in Centerville, S.D. to Louis and Florence Berven. She attended Centerville High School and graduated from All Saints Girls School in Sioux Falls S.D. She attended Principia College in Elsa, Ill. and obtained her B.A. from the University of Colorado. She worked briefly as a teacher and then worked for 40 years in various secretarial positions. She retired from the University of California, Irvine.
She married William Walton Johnson on July 2, 1948 in Boulder, Colo. She is survived by her husband, William; and their children Melody (Bill) Connell, Carol Lee and Mark Johnson; and grandchildren Christina (Gene) Renninger, Jennifer (Dusty) Johnson-Lane, Kyle Connell, Kerry Connell, Kristin Lee Mara Lee and Kathryn Lee; and two great grand-children Matthew and Devin Johnson-Lane. She was preceded in death by her brother N. Eugene Berven of Forest Lake, Minn.
Rosemary has been a tap dancer since she was three years old and has danced and taught throughout her life. She danced with the Entertainers, a senior dance troupe. She also loved music and played the flute in the Auburn Senior Band. She was the active president of the SAFH Better Breather's Club.
Throughout her life, she was active in community organizations which included Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and was a life member of the PTA.
One of her favorite poems was:

LET THERE BE MUSIC (AND DANCE)
in my heart…
throughout all the seasons…
Let my spirit sing in happiness or tears…
Let me live my life in harmony with God,
At peace with others,
as love plays out the melody
of all my days and years.

Rosemary will be buried at the New Auburn Cemetery. A memorial to celebrate her life will be held this summer. She was deeply loved and will live in our hearts forever.
