DAWKINS, Dorian Styles of Saginaw, Michigan. On January 31, 1995, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Lou and Latricia Dawkins were blessed (two months early) with a son whom they lovingly named Dorian Styles Dawkins. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church. At a young age, Dorian discovered his first love, sports. He had a supernatural gift at mastering whatever undertaking he so desired. Dorian spent his precious preschool years at Bethel Educational Center where he developed many special, long-lasting friendships. He attended elementary school at Morley Elementary, spending his 5th grade year at Houghton, all under the leadership and guidance of Mr. Charles McNair. He was honored to conclude his elementary years as Houghton's "Star Student/Valedictorian". Dorian took the "Saginaw City Middle Schools" tour, attending Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy, South Middle School, Webber Middle School, and Central Middle School where he graduated June 5, 2009 with honors. Dorian was an outstanding student, friend and definite asset to all of the schools he attended, ushering each one of his football and basketball teams to citywide championships. His dream was to attend Saginaw High School in the fall as an official Trojan, having been an honorary Trojan all of his life. Even though Dorian was just at the brink of his high school career, he was already highly regarded as an athlete in the college realm and was privileged with an unofficial visit to the Ohio State University on Thursday, June 11, 2009. Michigan State University, his true "pick", was his destination the following day where Dorian played his "A" game. Doing what he loved, at the free-throw line, Dorian chose the bright light over the green room. God blessed us with him early and early he departed. After 14 wonderful years with us, on June 13, 2009, God called Dorian home. He will forever be loved and missed by his parents, Lou and Latricia Dawkins; brothers, Mario and Christian; sister, Hailee; grandparents, Haley and Marie Dawkins, Saginaw; Deary and Esther Vaughn, Muskogee, OK; great grandmother, Bertha Smith, DeFuniak Springs, FL; aunts, Cassandra Vaughn, Muskogee, OK, Sonya R. Vaughn, Los Angeles, CA; uncles, Tim (Sonya) Dawkins, Lansing, MI, Vincent (Renee ) Dawkins, Atlanta, GA, Franklin Vaughn, Muskogee, OK; special cousins Deary Hill, Marcus Dawkins, Blake Vaughn, Laquilia Vaughn, Jacinda Dawkins, Dimitri Vaughn, Jordan Dawkins, Janae Dawkins, Damien Vaughn, Dasia Vaughn and many other family members, and special friends. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2009 at Wolverine Baptist State Headquarters, 615 S. Jefferson, Saginaw, MI, Pastor Roy Manning officiating, with entombment in Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum. Visitation will take place from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Saginaw High School, 3100 Webber Street, Saginaw, MI and 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Corinthian Baptist Church, 104 S. 10th Street where the family will be present. Paradise Funeral Chapel 3100 S. Washington Ave. 989-754-4826
