He was the son of the late Lemuel Lee and Sarah Elizabeth Horton Bowers.

He was retired from Springs Industries and a farmer. Mr. Bowers was a member of Providence Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.

He was preceded in death by a son; Billy Joe Bowers and a great- great grandchild.
