Ruth M. Starkey, 95, of Terre Haute, died in her residence at 9:10 p.m., Monday, June 15, 2009. She was born in Terre Haute, on Oct. 6, 1913, to George William Sr. and Emma Amelia (Clemmons) Roehm. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Ural W. Starkey, preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 1998. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Archer and her husband Jerry, and Ruth Pleus and her husband Gordon. She was preceded in death by another daughter, Mary Jo Starkey Boland. She also is survived by one brother, George William Roehm Jr.; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. Her deceased brothers and sisters are, Esther M. Starkey Garvin (Leonard H. "Charlie" Garvin), Virginia R. Roehm Hauer (Theodore John Hauer), Lucille Roehm Lidster (Ernest Eugene Lidster), Paul T. ROEHM, Eugene W. "Bud" Roehm, Joseph Lewis "Joe" Roehm, Ethel A. Roehm McCammon (James W. McCammon), Helen I. Roehm, and Julia Eaton. Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Thursday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until service time Thursday. Following cremation, burial will be private at Roselawn Memorial Park. For those who choose, contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice, the American Cancer Society, or to the Alzheimer's Research Association.
