Services for Horace M. Thomas, 86, of Lubbock will be at 4 p.m. today in Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Ken Horn, chaplain with Vistacare Family Hospice, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

He died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at a private care home.

He was born Nov. 17, 1913, in May. He graduated from May High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Martha Elizabeth Plummer on Nov. 16, 1935. She preceded him in death on Oct. 10, 1999.

He moved to Lubbock in 1957 and worked for David Weaver Seed & Grain and Ben Peek Grain Company for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

A daughter, Joetta Merrill, also preceded him in death on July 19, 1993.

Survivors include a son, Ron of Lubbock; two daughters, Lynda Harkins of Idalou and Wylda Darden of Lubbock; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
