Joseph C. Ketterer, 90, was found dead Wednesday evening, July 7, in his home at 1225 Archway. He died of natural causes, and he had been in failing health since 1989.

A lifelong resident of Lafayette, he was born Feb. 25, 1903. He attended St. Boniface Grade School and graduated from Lafayette Business College.

Mr. Ketterer had been a plumber from 1922 until retiring in 1966.

He married Frances Thoennes in 1925 in Lafayette. She died in 1975.

Mr. Ketterer was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the oldest member of Plumbers Local 157, formerly Local 240, in Terre Haute.

He is survived by four daughters, Joanne R. Spaker and Rosemary C. Furrer, both of Lafayette, Barbara E. Michalke of Thorntown and Carol S. McKay of Bremen, Ga.; four sons, James W. Ketterer, Charles S. Ketterer, Daniel Ketterer and Robert Ketterer, a sister, Louise Butz, and a brother, Francis Ketterer, all of Lafayette.

Friends may call at Hahn Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St. 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with Wake service at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 10 a.m. Monday, Monsignor Arthur Sego officiating. Interment St. Boniface Cemetery. Surviving, 30 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a brother, 3 sisters, a grandson, Clinton Joseph Ketterer, and a granddaughter, Denise Ketterer.
